2. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file, made up of letters and numbers, which will be stored on a user’s computer, mobile terminal or other equipment from which the Internet is accessed. The cookie is installed by the request issued by the user’s terminal to a Digital Native server or to a third party server.

3. What are cookies used for?

These files mainly make it possible to recognize the user’s terminal and present the content in a relevant way, adapted to the user’s preferences. Cookies ensure a pleasant browsing experience for users and support Digital Native’s efforts to provide more tailored services to users, eg: – online privacy preferences, shopping cart or relevant advertising. They are also used in the preparation of aggregate anonymous statistics that help us understand how a user benefits from our Internet pages, allowing us to improve their structure and content, without allowing the user to be personally identified.

4. What cookies do we use?

We use two types of cookies: per session and persistent. Session cookies are temporary files that remain in the user’s terminal until the session ends or the application is closed. Fixed cookies remain on the user’s terminal for a period determined by the cookie parameters or until they are manually deleted by the user.

5. Main cookies used on our site

Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are necessary for proper functioning of the website, such as displaying content, logging in, validating your session, responding to your request for services, and other functions. Most web browsers can be set to disable the use of cookies. However, if you disable these cookies, you may not be able to access features on our website correctly or at all.

Performance Cookies
These cookies collect information about the use of the website, such as pages visited, traffic sources, users’ interests, content management, and other website measurements.

Functional Cookies
These cookies enable the website to remember a user’s choices – such as their language, user name, and other personal choices – while using the website. They can also be used to deliver services, such as letting a user make a blog post, listen to audio, or watch videos on the website.

Advertising or Targeting Cookies
These cookies are usually placed and used by advertising companies to develop a profile of your browsing interests and serve advertisements on other websites that are related to your interests. You will see less advertising if you disable these cookies.

Session Cookies
These cookies allow websites to link the actions of a user during a browser session. They may be used for a variety of purposes, such as remembering what a user has put in their shopping cart as they browse a website. Session cookies also permit users to be recognized as they navigate a website so that any item or page changes they make are remembered from page to page. Session cookies expire after a browser session; thus, they are not stored long term.

Persistent Cookies
These cookies are stored on a user’s device in between browser sessions, which allows the user’s preferences or actions across a site (or, in some cases, across different sites) to be remembered. Persistent cookies may be used for a variety of purposes, including remembering users’ choices and preferences when using a website or to target advertising to them.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to collect information about the use of our website. Google Analytics collects information from users such as age, gender, interests, demographics, how often they visit our website, what pages they visit, and what other websites they have used before coming to our website. We use the information we get from Google Analytics to analyze traffic, remarket our products and services to users, improve our marketing, advertising, and to improve our website. We have enabled Google Analytics advertising features such as remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit our website, not your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected using Google Analytics with PD. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit our website, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google also uses specific identifiers to help collect information about the use of our website. For more information on how Google collects and processes your data, visit https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/

You can prevent Google Analytics from using your information by opting out at this link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Google Remarketing

Our website uses a remarketing advertising service. Our remarketing service is provided by Google and other companies that show our ads on websites across the Internet. With remarketing you may see ads for our products you have previously looked at. As an example, suppose you visit a website that sells computers, but you do not buy a computer on your first visit to that website. The website’s owner might like to encourage you to revisit his/her site and buy a computer by showing you his/her ads again on other websites that you visit. We use remarketing for similar purposes. For this to happen, Google will read a cookie that is already in your browser, or they place a cookie in your browser when you visit our site or other sites using remarketing. You can opt out of Google’s use of cookies and remarketing at this link: https://support.google.com/ads/answer/2662922?hl=en or you can opt out using the Network Advertising Initiative opt out page at: http://optout.networkadvertising.org/#!/

Facebook Remarketing

Third parties, including Facebook, may use cookies, web beacons, and other storage technologies to collect or receive information from our website and elsewhere on the internet, and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. With Facebook remarketing you may see our ads on Facebook after you have visited our site. For this to happen, Facebook uses a Custom Audience Pixel that is activated when a visitor lands on a webpage and a unique “cookie” is placed in their browser. Facebook lookalike audience targeting allows us to show ads on Facebook to people who are similar to those who have already visited or made a purchase from our website. 6. Do cookies or similar technologies contain personal data?

Cookies or similar technologies themselves do not require personal information to be used and, in many cases, do not personally identify Internet users. However, there are situations when personal data can be collected through the use of cookies to facilitate certain functionalities for the user or to offer the user an experience more adapted to his preferences. Such data is encrypted in a way that makes it impossible for unauthorized persons to access it.

7. Block cookies

If you want to block cookies, some functions of the site will be stopped, and this may generate certain malfunctions or errors in using our site. Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default, but you can change your settings to block some or all cookies.

8. Managing preferences regarding the placement of cookies

In general, an application used to access web pages allows cookies and/or similar technologies to be saved on the terminal by default. They are stored for periods up to 2 years. These settings can be changed in such a way that the automatic administration of cookies is blocked by the web browser or the user is informed each time cookies are sent to his terminal. Detailed information about the possibilities and ways to manage cookies can be found in the settings area of the application (web browser). Limiting the use of cookies may affect certain functionalities of the website.

9. Why are cookies and/or similar technologies important to the Internet?

Cookies and/or similar technologies are central to the efficient functioning of the Internet, helping to generate a user-friendly browsing experience tailored to each user’s preferences and interests.

Rejecting or disabling cookies may make some sites or parts of sites impossible to use. Deactivating cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive, in compliance with the law, online advertising – but only that it will no longer be able to take into account your preferences and interests, highlighted by your browsing behavior.

Examples of important uses of cookies (which do not require the authentication of a user through an account):

  • Content and services tailored to user preferences – categories of products and services.
  • Offers tailored to users’ interests
  • Password retention
  • Retention of child protection filters on Internet content (family mode options, safe search functions).
  • Limiting the frequency of serving ads – limiting the number of times an ad is shown to a specific user on a site.
  • Providing relevant advertising to the user.
  • Measuring, optimizing and adapting analytics features – such as confirming a certain level of traffic on a website, what type of content is viewed and how a user arrives at a website (eg: via search engines, directly, from other websites etc.).

Websites run these analyzes regarding their use in order to improve their services for the benefit of users.

10. Security and privacy issues

In general, browsers have integrated privacy settings that provide different levels of cookie acceptance, validity period and automatic deletion after the user has visited a certain site.

Other security aspects related to cookies:

  • Customizing your browser’s cookie settings to reflect a comfortable level of cookie security for you.
  • If you are the only person using the computer, you can optionally set long expiration periods for storing your browsing history and personal access data.
  • If you share computer access, you may consider setting your browser to delete individual browsing data each time you close the browser. This is an option to access sites that place cookies and delete any visit information when you close your browsing session.
